This is not a corporate , office-based internship. This is a ten-week internship (40 hours per week) during the summer of 2025 located in a grocery store environment at one of our nationwide Amazon Fresh Stores. Amazon is looking for undergraduate students with high-potential to join our Amazon Fresh team and learn what it means to be a people manager. Amazon provides training and development for Assistant Manager Interns to become exceptional people leaders. As an intern, you will have an opportunity to invest in others and develop a collaborative leadership style while utilizing the tools and processes that have helped create the most customer-centric company on Earth. Interns will be empowered to use data to drive decisions that can positively impact their teams and customers.

Interns can expect to receive support and training from a peer mentor and a direct store manager. Your main focus will be learning to manage a team while completing a summer project in partnership with your site leadership.

Assistant Manager Interns will bring Amazon’s customer obsession to life in a grocery environment. You will help lead a team of engaged grocery associates to deliver a best-in-class shopping experience for customers. You will play a vital role in maintaining a vibrant store culture based on customer obsession, trust, respect, continuous learning, safety, and fun. Assistant Manager Interns are natural leaders who are comfortable with change and are always looking for ways to improve their operation through data-driven decision making. Assistant Manager Interns demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent ownership, the ability to meet deadlines, a willingness to learn new things, and a commitment to the customer and employee experience.

Program Quick Facts and Location

• This position is interactive, on-the-floor with your team and will be located in an Amazon Fresh Store (Grocery Store Environment). This position is not a corporate role or in an office setting.

• Term: 10 Weeks

• Compensation: Hourly base pay - $28.22 in our lowest geographic market up to $32.60 in our highest geographic market.

• Summer relocation and housing assistance (if qualified)

• An offer for full-time employment upon graduation may be given after the internship

• Located at an Amazon Fresh Store in or near one of the following greater metro areas (within 50 miles): Los Angeles, CA, Washington, DC, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, and Seattle, WA.

Key job responsibilities

• Learn to coach, manage, and develop a team of Amazon associates

• Drive standard work and continuous improvement through an intern project

• Assist in communicating policies to your team and act as a source of information for the team

• Support associate recognition programs

• Ensure procedures are followed for building security and product loss prevention

• Partner with the management team to establish and maintain quality control standards

• Maintain performance goals and targets to ensure accuracy and quality for customers

• Work weekends and holidays as needed

• Work overtime as needed

• Stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 10 hours

• Regularly bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head

• Lift and move items up to 49 pounds

A day in the life

As an Assistant Manager Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn how to coach and develop a team of Amazon associates in a grocery store environment. Your main focus will be learning to motivate, mentor, and manage a team, as well as developing a summer project in partnership with your store leadership. Alongside your peer mentor, you will ensure that the team of Amazon associates have all the tools needed to succeed for any task during a shift. Through performing store walks, you will engage with associates on the floor, modeling behaviors of success and jumping in to fulfill associate activities when needed to provide a great customer experience or develop others.

Basic Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree with a conferral date between December 2025 and August 2026

• Pursuing Bachelors Degree in Business/Management, Retail, Hospitality, Supply Chain Management, or related fields

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer-facing grocery or retail industry experience

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Adept at the ability to motivate others in a deadline-focused environment

• Ability to evaluate and dive deep into data to provide thought-provoking, workable business solutions

• Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results

• Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $22.84/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $36.06/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
