The Washington Court House plant has a strong, collaborative leadership team that puts human safety first, closely followed by food safety and product quality. With a monthly production of just over 22,000,000 lbs., which includes both Hill’s product and private label production, the plant maintains a stellar safety record as well as a quality first pass release of 99.62%. This plant also maintains an outstanding environmental quality record at less than 0.1%.

The Quality Manager is a key member of the plant leadership team reporting directly to a corporate Quality Director and indirectly to the Director of Manufacturing. This role also provides the opportunity to lead an outstanding team!

What you will do:

  • Develops and implements the site specific Quality Systems and Food Safety Plan including Quality Management strategies, direction, and policies with the goal of protecting the business, reducing variation and waste, and growing the business

  • Ensures compliance with Colgate/Hill’s Quality Standards, Local, Governmental, and International Quality and EOHS Regulatory standards and guidelines and will work with all agencies to communicate, address, and resolve any issues

  • Functions as a critical member of the Site Strategic Team which supports the plant’s vision, provides resources to achieve plant strategy and ensures decision making processes are consistent with guiding principles

  • Owns the Cleaning & Sanitization process and environmental performance of the facility

  • Reports critical metrics of Quality systems both internally and externally

  • Is accountable for the robustness of key Quality Systems including but not limited to Incoming Component & Finished Product Inspection & Release, Validation, “Corrective Actions Preventive Actions”, Change Control, Internal Audits, Laboratory Management and Documentation Management

  • Develops and implements the site’s Quality Audit program to ensure conformance with standards, quality-related regulatory requirements, cGMP’s, and leads the development and implementation of Continuous Improvement plans to address any internal/external quality or food safety audit findings

  • Collaborate with AIB, FDA, USDA, Customers, or other agency’s during an audit

  • Leading site’s consumer satisfaction programs such as consumer complaint tracking and reduction of plant controllable complaints

  • Coordinates all Performance Management, coaching and feedback activities and provides effective career development and planning for all team members

  • Participates in continuous improvement projects with other plant managers and Corporate Quality

  • Prepares operating budgets for variable and fixed overheads for the Quality Team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • At least 8 years of experience in Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, or technical field

  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/ plant operations environment

  • At least 3 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Science or related field

  • Validated experience conducting and facilitating effective Failure Investigations, Corrective and Preventive Actions, Notices of Deviation and management of Change Documentation

  • Direct experience and active participation in an Audit Inspection by a Regulatory Agency

  • Proficient Knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s, and SPC

  • Knowledge of AIB, SQF, USDA and FSMA regulations.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $112,000 - $140,000 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.

  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements

  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually

  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually

  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year

  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
