Waltonen IT Technician (Entry Level) in Warren, Michigan

Waltonen Engineering is actively seeking an Entry-Level IT Technician to join our team! 

Responsibilities

  • Report to Waltonen IT Manager

  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving hardware-related issues for desktops, laptops, workstations, and peripherals

  • Perform memory upgrades, install drives, and troubleshoot hardware failures

  • Provide basic software support, including installing and configuring operating systems, software applications, and drivers

  • Assist users with software-related inquiries and issues

  • Collaborate with the IT team to diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues

  • Assist in setting up and maintaining network equipment

  • Respond promptly to help desk tickets submitted by end-users

  • Document solutions and resolutions for future reference

  • May require occasional travel to our Troy facility for support

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Familiarity with hardware components (CPU, RAM, hard drives, etc.) and their functions

  • Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)

  • Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

  • Strong problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies

  • Must be willing to work overtime hours as needed to address critical issues or complete projects

  • Only United States citizens can be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Certifications such as A+ or Microsoft MC are a bonus
