Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston Human Resources Manager in Waltham, Massachusetts

Under the general direction of the VP, HR, the Human Resources Manager is responsible a broad range of administrative functions with primary focus on support for staff in the areas of onboarding, training and development, performance management, employee engagement and employee relations. The HR Manager actively partners with the HR team and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) leadership to fulfill Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston’s (OCB) mission, achieve our vision, and live our values. This position will serve as a strategic partner while also providing hands-on generalist responsibilities for execution of all HR programs and processes for OCB, Boston Eye Surgery Laser Center (BESLC) and Anesthesia Consultants of MA (ACM) leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in all functional HR areas to all levels of employees ensuring a high level of customer service.

  • Acts as an employee advocate, management coach, and change agent, leading initiatives to proactively support employee engagement.

  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions, programs, and policies.

  • Provide strategic business partnership and coaching to managers and leaders to positively impact the hiring, motivation, development, and retention of staff.

  • Support employee relations efforts and the performance management process, by providing coaching and counseling to employees and managers as well as clarifying HR policies and procedures.

  • Assess organizational training needs.

  • Analyze and use needs assessment results to support the development and roll-out of trainings programs that will promote organizational effectiveness.

  • Oversee the performance management process to ensure managers are trained and conduct meaningful reviews on a timely basis.

  • Contributes to employee communications efforts.

  • Provides guidance, counsel, and coaching to management and employees on performance improvement processes and/or corrective action and disciplinary processes as appropriate.

  • Ensures that the effective development and implementation of employee on-boarding, career development, management and retention strategies and initiatives are in place to support business objectives.

  • Performs related job duties as required.

    Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.

  • 5 - 8 years’ experience with the ability to translate business needs into HR solutions that drive engagement and performance.

  • Previous healthcare experience strongly preferred.

  • 1-3 years’ experience developing and presenting trainings programs across an organization.

  • Ability to work with a very high level of confidentiality and discretion.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent emotional intelligence skills.

  • Ability to coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues while remaining impartial.

  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with OCB/BESLC/ACM policies, procedures, and employment law.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated expertise of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.

    This is a full-time position with the ability to work remotely 1 day/week. Preferred work locations are Waltham or Plymouth with the ability to travel to all 14 locations on a regular basis.
