POSITION: Accountant

Summary:

As a key member of the Accounting team, the Accountant position is responsible for performing a variety of functions relating to general ledger, reconciliations, fixed asset capitalization, prepaid amortization and FDICIA control review and testing.

Key Result Areas:

  • Responsible for reconcilement of assigned General Ledger accounts and the subsequent follow-up of all items to ensure timely resolution, for the Bank, subsidiary companies and charitable foundation.

  • Responsible for the preparation of daily and monthly journal entries to record the Bank, subsidiaries and charitable foundation’s activity.

  • Collaborate with Facilities and IT departments to capitalize fixed assets in accordance with the Bank’s capitalization and depreciation policies. Additionally, leads company-wide annual fixed asset review process to assess for impairment and write downs.

  • Prepares roll-forwards for fixed asset and equity balances.

  • Responsible for setting up prepaid expenses in the Bank’s financial accounting software, in accordance with the Bank’s Accounts Payable policy.

  • Monitors corporate credit card suspense account and ensures all card holders submit expense reports timely. Prepares journal entries to record corporate credit card activity after proper approvals and documentation are received. Assists with administrative support over the corporate credit card function by ordering new cards, closing cards and obtaining statements for cardholders.

  • Perform FDICIA testing and Financial Reporting Internal Controls monitoring according to regulatory guidance.

  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues and customers across the Bank.

  • Perform additional duties as required.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Accounting preferred, or 2 years of work experience in a banking or financial services environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel including the use of complex formulas.

  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, preferred.

  • Strong initiative, oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, work independently.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
