With over 10,000 video systems under management worldwide - more than any other video communications service provider - Yorktel has the proven expertise and global reach to deliver enterprise-quality visual communications. Yorktel is currently seeking a Staff Accountant responsible for overseeing all financial activities. Recommends, designs, and implements controls based on department objectives. Consults with supervisor regarding major policy decisions, major expenditures and unusual problems. Duties to be performed independently.Duties/Responsibilities:Under the general supervision of the Controller, performs general accounting functions & accounting records, and other related duties in daily administration of accounting department.Maintains general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, accounts analysis and reconciliation, closing books monthly, and setting up new accounts. Performs various month-end reconciliations. Maintains accounting records for fixed assets. Assists outside auditors at year-end to include preparing schedules, providing explanation of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data. Prepares monthly inventory reporting. Maintains records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material. Updates records as necessary. Recommends, designs, and implements any necessary department controls. Interfaces with Information Management department for accounting and management data and initiates modifications/enhancements to computerized systems.Other duties as assigned.Required Skills and Abilities:Must have GAAP knowledge & an understanding of revenue recognition.May prepare monthly financial statements to include preparation of monthly balance sheet, income statement, reports on changes in financial position/budget variances.Strong excel skills.Must be highly organized and able to communicate.Be able to cope with multiple projects.A team player with a clear understanding of York Telecom’s business.Professional appearance always.Education and Experience:Accounting degree and/or 2-5 years of experience in accounting, including revenue recognition.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
