Job Description

The Field Network Engineer will execute expert level support for LAN/WAN/Network and provide remediation for computer-based problems and peripherals.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site visits to branch locations or project sites.

  • Inspect and assess existing infrastructure, equipment, or systems.

  • Install, configure, and deploy network hardware and software components, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.

  • Ensure proper cabling, mounting, and physical installation of network equipment.

  • Conduct initial testing and validation of network connectivity and functionality.

  • Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls to protect network assets and data.

  • Respond to security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and implement incident response measures.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents.

  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, clients, and internal teams.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT staff, engineers, project managers, and vendors.

  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and readiness activities.

  • Respond to network outages, emergencies, and incidents to minimize downtime and restore service quickly.

  • Pursue relevant certifications and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications & Experience

  • BS in Network Engineer, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

  • Work experience as a Network Engineer of at least 3-5 years.

  • Strong knowledge of routers, switches, load balancing and security concepts.

  • VLAN, IP/ARP/MAC/Spanning-tree issues and configurations.

  • Troubleshooting VLAN or physical connectivity for servers and other devices.

  • Troubleshooting security policies, NAT rules and other security system configurations.

  • Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, flags, and ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues using Wireshark, TCPdump and other tools.

  • Analytical and detail oriented.

  • Effective communication and people skills.

  • The ability to work well in a collaborative team atmosphere.

  • A passion for technology.

  • Knowledge of Security principles and familiarity with frameworks.

  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) a plus
