WestRock Company Maintenance Trainee in Wakefield, Massachusetts

We are looking for Industrial maintenance team members to help us keep our paper and packaging machines in top notch condition. Machine uptime is critical to our business. If you have industrial experience or want to move over to industrial work, we want to speak with you!

Hourly Rate: $28.05

Weekends are required

As a member of our Maintenance Team you will:

  • Keep yourself, our team and the community safe when you adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participate in our safety program

  • Performing preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components; and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels.

  • Performing emergency breakdown maintenance as necessary to support plant operations.

  • May operate forklifts, hoists, and other heavy equipment.

  • Will utilize both hand and power tools effectively while maintaining high maintenance and safety standards.

  • Have access to all the training necessary to fully cross-train in other technical areas of maintenance

  • Will work with steam and boiler controls and mechanical power drives

What you need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to work weekends & overtime

  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical gearboxes, timing, alignment, etc.

  • Strong working knowledge of conveyors, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

  • Performs electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other repairs as needed.

  • The ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical prints.

  • The ability to reference equipment manuals and other technical literature.

  • Basic understanding and application of precision maintenance.

  • Maintaining clean and organized work areas and cleaning up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks.

  • Advanced knowledge of shop tools (welding equipment, bandsaws, drill presses, hydraulic presses, etc.)

  • Maintaining teamwork with other associates.

  • Basic understanding of 5S

  • Basic computer skills

  • Basic CMMS knowledge

  • Ability to effectively communicate and work on a team

  • A love for troubleshooting complicated machinery

  • Basic mathematical skills and basic technology/computer skills

  • One to three years of experience in Maintenance with the skills to work in an industrial environment

  • Electrical experience highly valued as is corrugated packaging experience

  • Professional license(s) are highly valued
