Job Title: Transportation/Logistics Coordinator Department: Manufacturing Reports To: Materials Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY Supports the shipment of goods produced or aids in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to the customer base by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Creates shipping documents and air waybills. Prepares all shipping documents in a timely and accurate manner and posts shipping charges. Maintains all records pertaining to shipping.
  • Determines method and mode of shipment to customer. Knowledge of proper documentation for both import and export. Familiar with shipping regulations. Capable of tracking and providing delivery information as well as filing freight claims.
  • Provides shipping personnel with the proper documentation to complete the shipping process.
  • Verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments and assists in preparing items for shipment.
  • Compares identifying information and counts of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, or other records.
  • Completes and processes required governmental forms for government product shipments.
  • Completes and processes required forms for banking institutes, while understanding Letter of Credit requirements.
  • Assists and expedites shipments.
  • Determines labeling requirements including but not limited to assemble and pack product containers, preparing and affixing shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils, identifying shipping information for cartons, skids or other storage devices in an accurate manner, including any special labels that are customer required.
  • Makes arrangements for pick-up by the specified carrier, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk via the shipping instructions.
  • Enters data and retrieves daily transactions, and files various traffic records and documents.
  • Complies with and conducts business in accordance with the letter, spirit, and intent of all relevant laws and regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions; wherefore, refrains from any illegal, dishonest, unethical conduct. Maintains communications with all employees, vendors, customers and others in a cooperative and professional manner, while treating them in with dignity, respect and courtesy.
  • Performs other related duties as required and may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be a hands-on type individual with the ability to interface on the plant floor with senior leadership.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Education: High school diploma or GED, along with one year certificate from college or technical school.
  • Work Experience: Three (3) to six (6) months related experience and/or training.
  • Or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

In addition, possess the following:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient computer skills and familiarity of spreadsheet and word software packages, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc., various freight software, labeling matrix programs, and Internet literate for on-line forms processing.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to compute basic math, units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percents.

Must have a good working knowledge of part numbers and part usage and understand applications for use.

Must be able to understand quality standards, methods and reporting as required.

HAZMAT certification is required.
