Position Summary:

ClearCaptions is looking for an energetic Staff Accountant. Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for the preparations of monthly closings, financial statements, budgets, quarterly audits, and the preparations of general ledger entries and reconciliation. Team members in this role provide management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts. This role requires knowledge of general accounting, GAAP accounting standards, and the ability to generate numerous financial reports.

This is a Remote/Work from Home position reporting to the Assistant Controller.

What you will do:

  • Compile data and file returns for federal, state, and local government sales & use tax and property tax returns.

  • Administer company Concur, Adelman and Amex programs in accordance with the company’s travel & expense and credit card policies including feedback to managers concerning unassigned/unsubmitted charges, coding, and audit findings.

  • Analyzing and summarizing account information, providing feedback and guidance to leadership

  • Perform monthly internal audit functions and assist with preparing year-end audit schedules.

  • A major contributor in the accurate and timely preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements.

  • Adhere to internal and external deadlines and monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.

  • Perform daily and monthly treasury functions including reconciling and reporting on cash accounts, requests for funding, and reconciling any related transactions.

  • Review Accounts Payable invoices for accuracy. Index, code, and maintain workflow routing using the accounts payable software solution. Import approved invoices to the accounts payable module in the accounting financial system.

  • Review and understand contracts and purchase orders in relation to invoices presented for payment.

  • Create payment batches, obtain disbursement approval, enter manual payments, and upload payment files to the bank’s Safe-Pay portal.

  • Drive process efficiency and continuous improvements within department.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Accounting, General Business, or Finance, or equivalent amount of related work experience.

  • 3 years of related accounting experience including public and non-profit accounting preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of standard accounting systems and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP and GAAS).

  • High degree of computer literacy of specialized software related to departmental operations including accounting systems, and database, Email, Internet, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.

  • Experience with Great Plains accounting software desired.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local tax laws and regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of departmental operations, organization policies, applicable laws, procedures, and processes.

  • Ability to create a variety of documents including financial reports, memos, and spreadsheets including bar graphs.

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with staff, customers, and the public.

  • Mathematical skills include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to present information and respond to questions from customers, senior management, and others.

  • Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation.

  • Ability to be flexible in changing work priorities.

  • Deadline oriented and able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to understand and respond to a diverse population.

  • Ability to act in a responsive manner to customer inquiries and requests; and escalate the more difficult clients or matters appropriately.

  • Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.

  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours.

  • Proficient in MS Office, modern communication tools for virtual teams (i.e., MS Teams.)

    Physical Demands & Work Environment:

    Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:

  • Sitting (85-95%)

  • Keyboarding and 10 Key (80-90%)

  • Viewing computer monitor requiring close vision (80-90%)

  • Viewing documents with small type (70-80%)

    100% Remote: Work environment is at home.

    Compensation :
