Overview

If bringing your SLP expertise to a small start-up program (soon to enter its 2 nd year!) appeals, Kennedy Krieger School: Southern Maryland Campus in California, Maryland may be right for you. We’re looking for a dedicated SLP to join our team as our program enters its promising second year. Work with lower, middle grade, and high school students in this specialized non-public school program. Support our students with complex communication needs as they develop their skills in this specialized setting and build readiness skills for next steps in their school careers. AAC/AT learning and opportunities for growth and leadership. T o facilitate your transition, we offer a substantial relocation package.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  1. Offer functional communication, speech and language, and feeding/oral motor assessment to determine presence of a disability in these areas and (where detected) determine the current level of functioning, with consideration to the student and family needs as well as the impact of the deficit on the student’s ability to derive educational benefit.

  2. Develop and implement intervention programs focused on resolving any identified condition or diminishing its functional and/or educational impact. Deliver intervention services in settings and formats appropriate to the needs and placement of the student (e.g., pull out, classroom setting, co-teaching).

  3. Maintain documentation of all contacts with parents/guardians, agency representatives, administration, ACT Office and colleagues regarding student progress and concerns as needed, adhering to KKI and departmental expectations, as well as guidelines established by MSDE and ASHA.

  4. Develop, modify and implement IEPs in cooperation with the ACT office and the LSS as prescribed at the Annual Team Meeting (ATM).

  5. Participate in intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary activities relative to student services (e.g., team meetings) and professional training (e.g., staff development activities).

  6. Assist with supporting the school mission and goals in a positive and professional manner with a student centered school culture and climate as designed by the administration as specified in school and KKI policies and procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Must have successfully completed Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology, with related clinical requirements.

  • Must have Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

  • Must be have or be eligible for Maryland State Licensure in Speech Language Pathology.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have experience working with children who have communication disorders.
