About the job

The Quay Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on Red Hat's Container Registry Service quay.io. In this role you will help shape the future architecture of quay.io and other registry service offerings. This role will work closely with Product Management, Site Reliability Engineers and the rest of the Quay Engineering team on a day to day basis. The Quay team is highly collaborative and guides top performance in each other through a strong engineering culture, peer accountability and psychological safety.

What you will do

  • Maintain and improve the resilience and availability of the current quay.io SaaS offering

  • Develop reporting and data analytics tools to drive business and roadmap decisions around the quay.io SaaS

  • Develop RDBMS-centric features for enterprise on-premise Quay customers looking for resiliency, performance and high availability

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for AWS Aurora and PostgreSQL

  • Coordinate with other teams to provide HA Postgres across multiple products

What you will bring

  • Experience with large scale Postgres based architectures

  • Experience with managing large scale AWS Aurora (Postgres preferred) deployments

  • 5+ years experience developing web applications in Python

  • Comfortable using Git, Linux to develop software

  • Experience with using Redis based caching at scale (ElasticCache a strong plus)

  • Experience packaging applications in containers and deploying to Kubernetes

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Active status as AWS Certified Solution Architect

  • Active status as AWS Certified Database - Specialty considered a plus

  • Ability to work remotely and contribute effectively to a fully distributed, remote team

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for complex topics and issues

  • Must be continuously curious and eager to learn new skills and topics

The salary range for this position is$111,260 - $183,582. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
