ManTech is seeking a Senior Security Specialist to Provides advice and counsel to Federal personnel with respect to the protection of National Security Information (NSI). Makes recommendations on policies and guidelines in accordance with federal mandates.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) classified material inventory and access to it, to include markings, storage, handling and transportation of classified materials

  • Managing Secure Accredited Facilities (SAFs) and Secure Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs), and performing regular accreditation reviews to ensure all spaces where classified operations may be performed are built and maintained appropriately

  • Supporting new construction of EPA accredited spaces, including the detailed review of construction plans and specifications, and providing feedback on areas of non-compliance with agency requirements.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and evaluate them against EPA specifications is a plus.

  • Performing audits of derivatively classified material to ensure marking accuracy; facilitating the development of classification and de-classification guides, if required

  • Ensuring the agency can process classified information on the Homeland Secure Data Network (HSDN) and the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS)

  • Issuing HSDN Tokens and verifying JWICs access

  • Monthly testing of STEs and secure faxes

  • Supporting Federally-mandated nationwide inspections and assessments of Program Offices, Regions and Laboratories that handle NSI and SCI material

  • Conducting preliminary inquiries to resolve classified security breaches and violations

  • Conducting interviews of clearance holders, annually, to determine the level of understanding of and compliance with the program’s requirements

  • Developing and conducting a variety of security trainings, including: indoctrinations, debriefs, foreign travel briefs and courier briefs

  • Developing and tracking completion of computer-based training for derivative classifiers, Security Executive Agent Directive (SEAD) 3 requirements, NSI and SCI annual refresher training

  • Tracking foreign travel and foreign contacts of SCI access holders and SEAD 3 covered individuals and providing required training and guidance

  • Preparing SOPs on all facets of the NSI Program and developing best practices for operating its program

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Two additional years of relevant experience can be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in system administration, specifically with RHEL and Windows.

  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts and services (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).

  • Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix) and security practices.

  • Proficiency in using the Linux command line and shell scripting (Bash, Python).

  • Basic knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).

  • Understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must hold and maintain a Top Secret clearance, and have been indoctrinated into and/or held active SCI access within the previous 12 months

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%

  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer

  • Often positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet

  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

The projected compensation range for this position is $94,500-$157,000. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
