Currently, we are seeking a motivated, career and team-oriented cybersecurity Senior Automation Engineer in support of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Continuous Diagnostic & Mitigation (CDM) Data Services Program. The CDM Data Services Program is a critical component of CISA’s national effort to ensure the defense and resilience of cyberspace. This is a remote position where the candidate can work from any location within the United States provided, they are able to work on an eastern time zone schedule.

The CDM Data Services Program mission is to provide a standardized platform to collect, transform, and integrate cybersecurity data from relevant authoritative data sources into a coherent data, delivering actionable information into Agency and Federal Dashboards to identify risk areas in support of mitigation as well as to facilitate coordinated agency and national response to cyber-threats.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement automation tools and frameworks.

  • Create documentation supporting automation processes and tools.

  • Evaluate, implement, and streamline DevOps practices.

  • Design and implement deploying appropriate CI/CD tools

  • Design and implement automation in the build process for on-prem and cloud instances.

  • Provide guidance for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline)

  • Implement various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure

  • Establish troubleshooting techniques and fix code bugs.

  • Monitor the processes during the entire lifecycle for adherence and updating or creating new processes for improvement and minimizing wastage

  • Work with Product owners and Project Managers to understand processes and identify areas of automation for improvement

  • Encourage and build automated processes wherever possible

  • Mentor and provide guidance to the engineering team members with automation improvements

  • Manage periodic reporting on the progress to senior management and customers

  • Manage GIT repositories supporting automation code.

Basic Qualification:

  • A bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science or related field)

  • Any Cyber Security certifications (i.e. Security+, GCIH, CEH)

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience

  • Must possess excellent working knowledge of infrastructure automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, TerraForm etc.)

  • Working knowledge in Automating Testing process utilizing code and best practice tools.

  • Working knowledge in Centralized Repository such as GitHub, GitLab, AzureDevops, BitBucket etc.

  • Must have strong expertise in operating environments and scripting languages like Python, Shell or PowerShell.

  • Building strong cross-functional leadership skills and working together with the operations and engineering teams to make sure that systems are scalable and secure

  • Knowledge of software development and software testing methodologies along with configuration management practices in Linux-based environment.

  • Possess sound knowledge of cloud-based environment such as AWS, GCP, and Azure

  • Experience handling automated deployment CI/CD tools

  • Hands-on experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure

  • Ability to review deployment and delivery pipelines i.e., implement initiatives to minimize chances of failure, identify bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues

  • Previous experience implementing continuous delivery and DevOps solutions

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Experience collaborating with other roles, such as solution architects, data engineers, data scientists, automation engineers, database administrators, and developers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to present to senior leadership and client audiences

  • A CISSP certification

  • Previous JIRA experience

  • Previous experience with MS SQL

Security/Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

  • Able to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability/Entry on Duty (EOD)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time

  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

The projected compensation range for this position is $141,100-$234,400. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
