Minimum Education:

  • BSN or other equivalent degree.

  • Current Registered Nurse License if an RN.

  • Ability to complete all NSQIP training modules and pass the certification examination.

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of one-year experience in one of the following settings: hospital surgery department, surgery clinic, clinical research

  • Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience preferred

  • Ability to build relationships and gain alignment for clinical support from the multidisciplinary team;

  • Ability to lead QI teams and interact with all members of the surgical team and administrative staff in a professional manner

  • Computer and Internet experience required - familiarity and comfort with MS Office products is essential for success in this position (Word and Excel- required; PowerPoint and Access- preferred)

  • Database data entry and/or management experience preferred.

  • Basic statistical knowledge preferred

Required License/Certification:

  • RN license if an RN. Other applicable licensure as required.

  • Certification from NSQIP (hospital will provide training).

  • Ability to complete all NSQIP training modules and pass the certification examination.

  • Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 90 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.

As an integral part of the Quality and Outcomes Management Department, the functions of this position include responsibility for screening, collecting and analyzing information from various sources such as patient records, databases, and outcome reports for the National Surgical Quality Improvement Project. Vital components of this position include the ability to identify opportunities to improve care and outcomes implementing plans to achieve the desired goals and accurate and timely submission of information. Lead and coordinate quality improvement teams to address opportunities for improvement.
