Registered Nurse - ICU Location: Rapid City, SD Duration: 16 weeks Description: General Information: Beds: 39 – MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU – mixed unit Minimal Experience: 2 years of ICU experience Excluding travel experience is most preferred If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience Excluding travel and have significant RN experience outside of ICU, please have CRT send to management team for approval Patient Types: Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma – heavy trauma population Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR – 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this – given to permanent staff Patient Ratios: RN: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 (rare) – acuity dependent Required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS TNCC (Required) Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Skills required: Epic experience Experience with the above-mentioned patients If traveler has experience outside of this specialty – please include this is your offer details ICU RN qualified to float to ED PCU RN qualified to float to ICU Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, strong critical thinking and assessment skills, working well in team setting, comfortable in fast pace setting with all critical patients. Impella, IABP and CRRT – strongly preferred Support on the Unit: CNA: 1-2 Nurse Aide’s per unit + mobility float aide Charge nurse: 2 CRN’s oversee all ICUs Phlebotomy: Yes, peripheral blood draws only IV/VAT Team: ICU CRNs place all midlines Resource Nurse: Yes, staffing dependent RT: Yes, 24/7 Physicians: 3 Intensivists on days, 2 on nights + APP on nights Charting System: Epic – REQUIRED FOR ED & ICU Alaris Omnicell Floating: If yes, where: Not common unless overstaffed. Could float to any adult floor – including Medsurg/Tele with 1:4 ratio. Orientation: (facility and unit): Hospital orientation (1) 12 hour shift and (1) 8 hour shift in the ICU.
