First Student Region Maintenance Manager in United States

  • Provides expert support to Location Managers and Shop Managers on FS standard maintenance operations. Provides annual detailed inspection of covered shops to support improvement action plan creation. Monitors location progress to annual action plan. Communicates and trains changes in maintenance best practices.

Coverage Area: South Region

Major Responsibilities

  • Conducts quality control inspections of locations.

  • Develops annual action plans with Shop Manager and tracks locations’ achievement of annual action plans.

  • Tests new proposed maintenance best practices with the test site’s Shop Manager.

  • Provides assistance optimizing site operations as requested by the Location Manager or Shop Manager.

  • Directs efficient transfer of fleet.

  • Ensures opportunities for warranty recovery are captured.

  • Drives effective campaign deployment.

  • Oversees target fleet availability.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education or Certifications Required

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience or Skills Required

  • 5+ years experience in transportation specifications and applications, and the development of maintenance standards.

  • Broad knowledge of vehicle maintenance.

  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent leadership and analytical skills.

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting of deadlines.

  • Computer proficient

  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player.

  • Strong financial and budgetary skills. Able to plan strategically.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.

  • Maintenance shop/school bus yard environment

  • Travel up to 50%
