First Student Paralegal in CINCINNATI, Ohio

Supports the Labor Relations function, assisting in all aspects of labor union contract negotiation work, to include managing the union contract and arbitration database.

Major Responsibilities

• Report to the Vice President Labor Relations, supporting both corporate and field Labor Relations functions for the United States and Canada.

• Assists with maintaining up to date the labor contract log, identifying the status of all labor contracts and pending actions. Conduct reviews and analysis of all labor contracts.

• Assist with the preparation for labor related arbitrations and responsible for maintaining an arbitration database log of all completed and pending arbitrations. Conduct reviews and analysis of arbitration data.

• Draft Labor Relations and arbitration documents such as contract language amendments and other related modifications. Research and draft memos in connection with labor law, labor contract agreements and arbitration matters.

• Coordinate and prepare documentation and presentations for the leadership team related to Labor Relations and arbitrations.

• Works closely with other departments such as Operations, Legal and Finance, coordinating efforts in the area of union labor contracts and arbitrations. Prepare responses to inquiries and providing other documents as needed.

• Respond to information request.

• Assists counsel in arbitration, mediation, and litigation matters, responding to compiling information request from federal and state agencies, along with other tasks as needed.

• Work closely with other members of the Human Resources Department.

• Serve as the Labor Relations point person and liaison for internal and external labor and arbitration administrative functions.

Minimum Education & Certifications Required

• Paralegal Certification, Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree.

Minimum Experience & Skills Required

• Minimum of 5-7 years experience, working independently in a corporate legal support role, in a law firm or similar setting.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

• Outstanding organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.

• Must be computer literate with an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Able to work independently.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office

equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or

by telephone.

• No travel.
