Associated Fire Protection is seeking a skilled Fire Extinguisher Technician to join our team. As a Fire Extinguisher Technician, you will be responsible for performing repairs, testing and recharging of fire extinguishers, as well as assisting in the Shop as needed.

Essential Functions- including but not limited to:

  • Complete inspection reports and repair work orders via mobile device and submit them on a timely basis.

  • Pull material for jobs as required.

  • Repair, test, and recharge fire extinguishers.

  • Assist with deliveries, and the loading and unloading of trucks.

  • Assist with the installations and maintenance of both portable and fire suppression systems, as needed.

  • Perform fire extinguisher training as needed.

  • Interact with customers on the job in a professional manner.

  • Communicate with customers to review work and answer any service, quality or technical questions.

  • Other job specific functions may be required depending on level.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service.

General Functions

  • This position includes a lot of interaction with customers and coworkers. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively and enjoy collaboration with others.

  • The successful candidate should read and be aligned with company’s mission statement, vision and values.

  • Depending on skill level, the successful candidate must be able to manage, lead and mentor people.

Requirements

Qualifications, Experience and Education- including but not limited to:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working on fire extinguisher is required.

  • Must be able to obtain any licenses or certifications as required in the area that you are working.

  • Experience working with fire protection and suppression systems is preferred.

  • Perform simple tasks independently.

  • Knowledge of local and national fire protection codes.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Computer, phone and tablet literate.

  • Ability to perform physical and mental functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Well organized, self-motivated, flexible and a team player.

  • Must be able to drive to and from jobs and have a valid driver's license.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

  • Emergency Service shifts are a requirement for this job.

  • Ability to work on Job sites that may include construction sites and other locations where personal protective equipment will be required, and work in confined spaces.

  • The position has frequent periods of stress.

  • Job sites may include schools, hospitals, jails, pharmaceutical companies and other companies that may require additional background checks and medical and drug screens.
