    Summary

To provide a Field Engineer to Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base, Kuwait in support of an on‑site Contractor Operation and Maintenance Support (COMS) program. The COMS Field Engineer shall be capable and experienced in all aspects of supporting a F18E training system and shall provide technical support to the Kuwait Air Force (KAF) customer in the operation of one Tactical Operational Flight Trainer (TOFT) and two Low-Cost Trainers (LCT). Field Engineer is expected to report to Kuwait in July 2024.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties in electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, or optical areas in support of a KAF flight training system located at Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base, Kuwait.

  • Includes, but is not limited to, scheduling of maintenance activities, performing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, as well as managing spares and tracking inventory

  • Calibrate, install, maintain, repair, and test the KAF flight simulator, and other support equipment

  • Install changes and updates to the simulator and support equipment as required; advise the KAF of the specific changes/upgrades and any additional maintenance tasks associated with the changes

  • Perform required readiness checks on flight simulation equipment and instruments

  • Conduct and document preventative maintenance checks required for simulator and support equipment

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and document malfunctions of simulators and support equipment

  • Remove and replace faulty equipment and complete maintenance data collection records

  • Perform telephone reach-back support to/from the Continental US.

  • Assist with installation and check-out of simulator and support equipment modifications

  • Assist with general field site facility activities as required

  • Work from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions

  • Apply comprehensive knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents

  • Process items to be delivered for repair and/or returned to Kuwait, via their designated Freight Forwarder

  • Prepare shipping crates, assist with preparation of related shipping documents, and verify items have been delivered to the Kuwait Supply System

  • Perform other related duties as required by a Site Manager or Program Management.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Associates Degree in the electronics field or a two-year electronic technician resident course at an accredited technical institute and/or military technical training and equivalent electronics maintenance experience on equipment of similar complexity

  • Must have at least 2 years' electronic maintenance experience and have demonstrated competence by satisfactory progressive performance in electronic maintenance on simulation systems of comparable complexity to those supported on this program

  • This is an overseas Field Service position and may require travel to other overseas locations.

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

  • A Secret Clearance is required

    Preferred Skills

  • Experience in integrated multi-computer systems, video generation and display systems, complex digital interfaces, high density cable/plug repair, software maintenance, and comprehensive troubleshooting and repair of general training device peripheral systems

  • CompTia certification in one or both of the following: Security+ and/or Network

  • Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

    Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.

  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under the device.

  • Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.

  • Must be able to distinguish colors.

  • Shop floor environment.

  • Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock from electronically moving mechanical parts.

  • Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: Cold, heat, airborne particles, loud noises.
