GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position will be responsible for accounting records, fiscal expenditure processing, calculations, and reconciliations, timely revenue receipt, accurate financial report submission, and processing information relating to this program. It will also assist with ensuring adherence to budgets and following procurement policies. Learning opportunities and on-the-job training will be provided.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Assist Accounting Manager with accounting functions and financial reporting on interesting programs and grants.
Assist with allocations and reviewing program allocations for accuracy.
Monitor the adherence to the state budget.
Monitor encumbrances, expenditures, and cash in WOLFS.
Perform vendor payments.
Help maintain integrity and timeliness of financial data in two accounting systems.
Perform reconciliation of Division software with WOLFS, and investigates variances.
Ensure fixed assets are properly accounted for.
Review and approve WOLFS documents for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Research and problem resolution.
Assist in month-end close and fiscal year-end reporting as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to candidates who have HRM payroll and WOLFS experience.
Preference may be given to candidates who have a Bachelor's degree.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of federal regulations related to grants/programs at the state and federal levels
Knowledge of the maintenance of accounts, including fund accounts, and in balancing the accounts to the different systems involved
Knowledge of computer-based applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
Knowledge of general accounting and fiscal management principles
Knowledge of procedures for fiscal control and proper documentation
Skills in effective oral and written communication
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work as an effective member of the Department's Fiscal team
Ability to make decisions using information from different sources
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accountant
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accountant
