SMX is seeking an Electronic Security System (ESS) Technician to design, install and maintain ESS. The ESS Technician will apply engineering techniques, principles, and precedents to develop, design, modify, install, test, evaluate, or operate electrical, electronic, avionics, mechanical, communications networks associated with support of access control and intrusion detection systems (ACS/IDS), door controls, and video surveillance system installs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Proficient in reading drawings and specifications

  • Programing of ESS system

  • Door hardware installation and HID card readers

  • Video surveillance and speech masking

  • Knowledge in Lenel and LKM locking devices

  • Installation of PoE and analog video systems

  • Install or maintain existing fire stopping systems in conduits, trays, wall/ceiling/floor penetrations

  • Often assigned as on-site team lead and reports to Integration Team Project Manager

  • Responsible for maintaining safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal requirements

  • Attends project meetings with customer and SMX leadership to provide daily, weekly, and monthly project status updates as required

Required Skills & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • 5 to 7 years of hands-on in the field experience installing and programming Electronic Security Systems

  • Some conduit cutting, bending, and modification experience required

  • Lenel Certified Access Professional

  • Knowledge of NESC code, GO95, and JPA as it relates to telecommunications rules and regulations

  • Experience installing and programming LKM locking devices

  • Ability to terminate head end and test devices

  • Following specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing instruments or equipment

  • Ability to climb ladders or use scaffolding/scissor lifts without fear of heights

  • Valid US Passport within 90 days of hire

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical systems or related field

  • LKM Lock certified

  • CPR Certified
