The School of Dentistry is looking for an Dental Assistant I to serve in the Office of the Dean. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. What you need to know
Proposed Minimum Salary: $15.00 hourly
Work Schedule/Location: This is an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Registered Dental Assistant in Texas.
CPR certified.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized dental procedures used in dental care. Knowledge of infectious control policies, aseptic techniques, supplies, and equipment.
Knowledge of dental radiographic equipment operation.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective listening and organizational skills.
Ability to explain procedures and policies and follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines, and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual/Spanish
Essential Duties/Tasks
Direct Patient Care
Provides chair side assistance to faculty and students during procedures and provides routine care of dental patients, equipment and instruments.
Assists the faculty and students during the administration of prophylactic, therapeutic or surgical treatment procedures to provide for dentist/patient needs to include using irrigation solutions and suction to keep field free of debris and monitoring patient.
Mixes indicated dressings and other materials, pours models as required by appropriate procedures
Prepares for dental procedures by setting up instruments, equipment and materials.
Clinic Support
May monitor inventory, stock and order dental supplies.
May schedule patients, coordinate chart retrieval and review patient financial transactions and/or telephones.
