About This Role

You will be reporting to the Residue Disposal Areas (RDA) Construction and Projects Superintendent and will be responsible for the geotechnical monitoring for all Newmont Goldcorp Boddington (NGB) Dams. A key aspect of your role is to develop and implement an effective and standardised dam surveillance program, while improving instrumentation. You will provide support to your own department and the Gold Recovery Superintendent to ensure effective and efficient operations of the NGB Tailings and Water Dams.

In This Role You Will

  • Liaise with external consultants to maintain the geotechnical stability assessments for all NGB Dams and ensure assessments are updated in line with operational performance.

  • Actively monitor and report on the performance of Dam infrastructure to ensure the facilities are operated in accordance with the design intent.

  • Review, maintain and improve geotechnical monitoring data, infrastructure and instrumentation.

  • Develop and review daily operator checklists and undertake regular facility inspections.

  • Develop deposition plans to ensure no interruptions to the Processing Plant as a result of a water imbalance or residue deposition issues.

  • Drive continuous improvement of geotechnical dam monitoring in collaboration with the regional team to develop an externally accessible and automated system.

  • Ensure all NGB tailings and water dams systems align with the Newmont Goldcorp standards and government legislation.

  • Preparation of documentation and implementation of key international cyanide code recommendations to maintain certification for the site.

  • Maintain an effective dam safety training package for all operators.

  • Participate in risk reviews and manage key critical controls.

Your Skills, Training & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification specialising in Civil, Mining or Geotechnical Engineering

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in Dams and or Tailings engineering

  • Strong technical ability in tailings, geotechnics and water management.

  • Strong ability to engage with stakeholders and to communicate effectively across multiple levels and disciplines.

  • Ability to review reports and analyses, and carry out audits.

  • Previous project management exposure and demonstrated ability to run various projects at one time.

  • Previous mining experience highly regarded.

Work Conditions and Location

  • Our unique site is only 130kms from Perth CBD and approximately 100kms from the coast in the Peel Region.

  • Live locally in the town site of Boddington and go home every night, or stay in our Village for your roster and DIDO.

  • This role is on a 5/2:4/3 roster (5 days on site, 2 days off, 4 days on site, 3 days off) working a 40 hour week.
