Typically Reports To Supervisor or Manager**
Position Summary *Serves as the primary point of contact with the public. Maintains a thorough knowledge of medical and orthopedics services and demonstrate positive customer relations. Manages communications, collections, and financial accounts. Composes routine correspondence. Schedules patients, enters information in the computer (patient information), maintains clinical information in patient charts, supports documentation for medical records, provides clinical support for all needed activities of the specified clinic or physician office. *
Provides clinical medical assistance and support to managing physician, including chart review, patient interview, suture removal/prep, wound care/prep, drawing up injections/prep and coordinating any and all recommended MD treatment. Documents clinical information accurately into the medical record, which requires knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding.**
Enters all new patient demographic information, charges and posting payments to accounts. Collects payments on accounts and manages cash receivables. Manages patient balances, which includes notifying patients of outstanding balances, and transferring those accounts to collections following department policy. Corresponds with client companies and workers' compensation insurance carriers on patient accounts. **
Communicates with ancillary and diagnostic healthcare providers, obtaining patient documentation from appropriate personnel as needed, and resolving any discrepancies and incomplete or inaccurate data from the medical record.**
Verifies insurance coverage and receives authorization for treatment (office visits, diagnostic testing, procedures, surgeries) if required on all patients.**
Manages multiple phone lines and solves daily and routine problems regarding patient care, following proper channels of communication, recognizing issues for referral to management.**
Schedules patients and coordinates daily workflow (patient flow). Develops, continuously assesses, and maintains patient scheduling to ensure optimal patient flow. **
Maintains an accurate filing system for patient records, patient charges, correspondence, and business functions. Handles mail, correspondence, packages, etc. in a timely and appropriate manner.**
Makes recommendations to management of changes or additions to office functions.**
Performs other duties as assigned.
*Minimum Requirements *High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred and two (2) years experience in a healthcare setting.
Driver's License Required *Valid driver's license, an acceptable three-year motor vehicle record as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart, and a certificate of auto insurance.*

*Knowledge/Skills/Abilities *Excellent communication skills and experience working with public required. Proficiency in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook necessary, proficient with database programs required. Knowledge of insurance terminology and proper billing codes/procedures required.
