The Division of Neurosurgery, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) are actively seeking a scientist with training in translational cancer therapeutics and molecular biology as a full-time faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor of Research in Neurosurgery to join its current team of 5 clinical faculty members as a researcher.

Division of Neurosurgery:

The Division of Neurosurgery is part of the Neurosciences Service Line (the Neurological Institute) which has been highlighted as a key service line by the hospital. The Division of Neurosurgery is currently undergoing expansion of its research portfolio. A brand-new integrated clinic space for the Divisions of Neurosurgery and Neurology opened in the Spring of 2021. The goal of the Neurologic Institute is to offer comprehensive and integrated neurologic services in a patient-centered environment.

Clinical Research Program:

The academic mission for the Division of Neurosurgery is to build a cutting-edge research infrastructure within our comprehensive care model that would foster the training of future physician scientists while also ensuring that our laboratory translational studies focus on treatment of neurological disease from the diverse patient communities of CHLA. The Division is recruiting a research-focused faculty to perform cutting-edge science and contribute towards the division’s growing portfolio.

CHLA is a busy urban teaching hospital with a diverse patient population. There are very active outpatient clinics in the Neurological Institute, with subspecialty programs in surgical neuro-oncology, craniofacial disorders, epilepsy management, movement disorders, brachial plexus, fetal surgery, and more. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a 495-bed free-standing children’s hospital with 18 operating rooms, 24 PICU beds and 58 NICU beds. We care for children from our local community as well as from all over the world with a wide-range of pathologies.

The annual base salary range for this position is $90,000-$100,000.
