Description

If you are a Manufacturing Engineering professional looking for a chance to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! The position is based in our Sidney, OH location with our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering department. We are looking for individuals with a focus on teamwork and collaboration. You must be self-motivated and can drive tasks to closure with minimal oversight. The position’s grade level and salary are subject to candidates’ skill level, experience, and education.

WHAT DOES THE ADVANCED MANUFACTURING WELDING GROUP DO:

  • Provide innovative Engineering, welding or metallurgical solutions in support of manufacturing and equipment design.

  • Provide component design guidance to support best manufacturing and metal to metal bonding practices.

  • Work closely with multi-functional teams that include Plant Manufacturing Engineers and Quality personnel. We also collaborate with Corporate Quality, Automation & Controls groups along with Product Engineering and Product Planning groups.

  • Support capacity expansion, new product, and new process development activities.

  • Provide engineering support for new product and process introductions, ensuring that all activities are completed and detailed by new product development procedures.

  • Define and develop bonding and joining processes for new products.

  • Provide support for a wide range of welding process that include some highly automated MIG welding cells along with resistance welding and friction welding processes.

  • Provide direction and organization of all manufacturing tasks for Europe’s Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) to acquire certifications.

  • Perform high level analysis of microstructure leading to interpretation and understanding.

  • Provide both general guidance and occasional hand-on support.

  • Procure equipment and lead projects for equipment upgrades. This includes leading budgets and schedules, RFQ development, installations, modifications, qualifications, documentation, and initial launch support.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a concentration in the fields of Welding Engineering or Material Science with major in Welding Engineering or Welding Technology.

  • 3-5 years of related experience

  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills - able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

  • Ability to plan, coordinate and implement concurrent tasks.

  • Works independently and, in a team, environment.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • 5-10 years of related experience

  • Fanuc robot knowledge

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D CAD software

  • Experience is writing weld procedure (WPS) documents.

  • Understanding of methods to verify/validate weld integrity through related weld standards.
