Meta Software Engineer, Machine Learning in Singapore

Summary:

We are hiring ML engineers and research scientists at all levels to build state-of-the-art recommendations on Facebook for both News Feed and Video & Reels. Videos (Reels, long videos, and Live streams) are increasingly the formats of choice across the social media industry. In addition, AI-recommended content from accounts you don't follow is now the fastest growing category of content on Facebook's feed. Making all these formats & product surfaces successful is a top priority for Facebook.

Software Engineer, Machine Learning Responsibilities:

  1. Play a critical role in setting the direction and goals for a sizable team, in terms of project impact, ML system design, and ML excellence

  2. Understand industry & company-wide trends to help assess & develop new technologies

  3. Re-evaluate the tradeoffs of already shipped features/ML systems, and you are able to drive large efforts across multiple teams to reduce technical debt, designing from first principles when appropriate

  4. Leading a team from a technical perspective to develop ML best practices and influence engineering culture

  5. Be a go-to person to escalate the most complex online/production performance and evaluation issues, that require an in depth knowledge of how the machine learning system interacts with systems around it

  6. Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create effective feature roadmap

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Experience with developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact

  2. Experience leading projects with industry-wide impact

  3. Vast experience communicating and working across functions to drive solutions

  4. Experience demonstrating technical leadership working with teams, owning projects, defining and setting technical direction for projects

  5. Significant experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, NLP, data mining, or artificial intelligence

  6. Knowledge developing and debugging in C/C++ and Java, or experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, PHP, and/or shell scripts

  7. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
