SHI Quality Control Technician in Singapore

Job Summary

The International IDCS Quality Control Technician will validate and review all rack builds, confirming that they meet all customer integration standards and requirements under the direction of the Lead Quality Control Technician. The Technician will document and fix errors or escalate build issues to the Lead Quality Control Technician.

This position will be reporting to the International ICS Solutions Director and will be required to report to the SHI Singapore Tampines Integration Center location as determined by SHI management.

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform build specific quality checks throughout build process following the Internal Quality Control Checklist over the course of 3 Quality Checks

  • Review customer Integration Documentation and decipher configuration specifics, such as rack elevation, port/slot layout and connectivity, confirming the devices and physical rack layout meet customer expectations

  • Capture images and thoroughlydocument racks for customer approval at multiple times during the build by following the IDCS process and a project specific photo template, ensuring all relevant information is visible in each photo and packet is complete and approved by management before rack ships to customer

  • Review and internally approve Photo QA Bundles and relay any fixes or photo retakes, post photo QA bundles to the Integration Portal for customer review

  • Attend Project Kickoff meetings with the Build and Engineering Teams to call out any potential quality issues or concerns from previous or current builds

  • Review hardware inventory logs captured from all racked devices to confirm that all custom configuration specifics, such as BIOS checks, MAC captures, DHCP configuration, and array controller configuration settings meet customer expectations.

  • Ensure all client related information and documentation is handled in accordance to ISO 27001 requirements.

  • Confirm that every label on every cable matches the customer labeling configuration specifics, including font, spacing and naming conventions

  • Confirm all cable routing is neat and follows customer standards

  • Confirm that all data captured for purposes of electronic distribution (EDI), plus all required logical data is in the template and format that the customer requested

  • Document and fix any discrepancies, and/or relay them to the build team for remediation.

  • Perform power redundancy failover test

  • Confirm that all data captured for purposes of electronic distribution (EDI), plus all required logical data is in the template and format that the customer requested

  • Update, improve upon, and create new Quality Control processes and documentation to eliminate redundancies while reducing the overall Quality Control cycle time

  • Review hardware inventory logs captured from all racked devices to confirm that all custom configuration specifics, such as BIOS checks, MAC captures, DHCP configuration, and array controller configuration settings meet customer expectations

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience working in an I.T. build environment.

  • Understanding of how to review technical documentation, with the ability to transfer logical information to a physical build

  • Proficient in MS Office products, Word, Excel, and SharePoint/Snagit

Required Skills

  • Ability to proofread, recognize and correct mistakes and communicate mistakes to the QC and Build teams

  • Ability to operate a camera or smart phone for photo documentation

  • Ability to crop and resize photos using Snagit or similar application

  • Detail oriented -Ability to work with meticulous attention to detail

  • Ability to address project issue and remain professional

  • Ability to communicate and relay build details and progression with teammates

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet build ship dates

  • Ability to multi-task and balance priorities

  • Ability to decipher integration documentation technical detail, including rack elevations.

  • Ability to comprehend Quality Control processes, including build check lists, as defined by the internal team

  • Ability to work with several teams, including data center build technicians, solution consultants and engineering

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skills

  • Superior collaboration and communication skills: team building, conflict resolution, stakeholder management and decision making.

Certifications Required

  • Knowledge of SharePoint

  • Experience of server / rack based building.

  • Cursory Knowledge of MS Teams

Unique Requirements

Business working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:30 to 18:30 with a one-hour lunch break. However due to the nature of the role, with its international reach and shared projects, working outside of these hours to service business needs will occur occasionally, and employees are expected to be readily available in these eventualities
