Meta Public Policy Manager, Singapore, Malaysia & International Institutions in Singapore

Summary:

Meta is seeking a strategic thinker to join our Singapore, Malaysia & International Institutions team as Public Policy Manager. You will work on issues related to the Internet and Meta's mission of giving people the power to build community and bringing the world closer together. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Meta’s policies and business priorities, being able to communicate those to policymakers, academia, civil society and other stakeholders. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business and the globe, engage with trade associations and third party groups. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in emerging technologies and policy work, skilled at working cross-functionally and accomplished at engaging policymakers and constituents to build partnerships. The successful applicant will become part of a team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including privacy, safety, and freedom of expression.This position will be based in Singapore and will report to the Head of Public Policy for Singapore, Malaysia and International Institutions.

Required Skills:

Public Policy Manager, Singapore, Malaysia & International Institutions Responsibilities:

  1. Provide strategic policy advice to key business and policy team partners

  2. Work with policymakers, academics, civil society and private sector organizations, including local, regional and international organizations, on issues of safety, security, content policy and other technology-relevant public policy concerns

  3. Represent Meta in meetings and public events with policymakers and other stakeholders

  4. Evaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, and industry proposals

  5. Interface with internal partners and clients regarding Meta products, policies, practices, and guidelines

  6. Collaborate with product, legal, business and other teams to evaluate new and existing products and features to ensure they reflect Meta’s policies, values and principles

  7. Respond to questions and consultations from external stakeholders on relevant policy issues

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 7+ years of demonstrated experience managing public policy and/or government relations and advocacy work

  2. Demonstrated understanding of Singapore's political system, environment and institutions

  3. Experience working and engaging with policymakers

  4. Ability to exercise strong judgment and persuasive skills, creativity, and ability to work in a dynamic environment

  5. Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and drive projects independently

  6. Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of Malaysia’s political system, environment and institutions preferred

  2. Experience in policy work for a multinational corporation or government preferred

  3. Knowledge of tech or emerging tech related policy issues preferred

  4. Experience engaging with trade associations, international institutions, academia, civil society and other stakeholders in Southeast Asia / APAC is a plus

  5. Advanced degree in public policy, a related field or law degree is a plus
