Shell Instrument Engineer (Design, Prj & MOC) in Singapore

Where you fit in

Within the refinery organization, the department Engineering & Assurance Instrument Engineering is responsible for supporting the production units in the whole field of process automation, including instrumentation, DCS(Distributed Control System – main process automation control system)/Safeguarding systems and QMI(Quality Measurement Instruments).

What’s the role?

The Instrument Design Engineer's prime focus will be to provide design support to projects, engineering, Maintenance and Turnaround department.

Your accountabilities will include:

  • Preparation or managing EPC(Contractor company who provide engineering, procurement and construction of instrument project) resource for preparation of engineering drawings, specification, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, hook-up diagrams etc.

  • Do field visits where necessary to collect site data for brownfield engineering

  • Ensure engineering is fit-for purpose, compliant to standards (e.g. DEMs(Shell owned design engineering manual) and DEPs(Shell owned Design and Engineering practises))

  • Support to a range of plant changes with completed error free execution work packs will be important element of the job

  • Closely work together with e.g. process technologists, process engineers and process control technologists

  • Ensure the quality of markup 'as-built documentation', timely updating of all documentation, managing SPI database

What we need from you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with the following:

  • Graduated from EEE or Chemical Engineering

  • At least 10 years of experience in refinery or petrochemical.

  • Displays a high degree of initiative and independence.

  • Effective stakeholder management.

  • Understand the business requirement and translate into delivering innovative and sustainable value solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of Field Instrumentation and systems engineering.

  • Skill level of design tools like AutoCAD and SPI(Smart Plant Instrumentation) and drafting database like Assai are required.
