V2X Technical Inspector (Armament) in Kuwait
Overview
This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager/Technical Inspector Lead, the Armament Systems Maintenance Technical Inspector monitors, inspect, analyze and examine small arm weapons and complex small arm weapon systems to include crew served weapon systems consisting of machine guns, launchers, and mortar systems along with components as applicable at the field/sustainment maintenance level. Determines the nature and extent of repairs required; disassembles; examines parts and assemblies as required; reassembles; and adjusts components. Determines serviceability of weapons and parts; exercises initiative to maintain productive progress and accepts responsibility of the results from Field Maintenance Support Operations. Utilizes a variety of diagnostic techniques and test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) items. Provide equipment life cycle management for utilization, modification, and repair data and input for the establishment and sustainment of weapons systems maintenance related programs. Perform technical research and ensure operational readiness of assigned equipment. Inspect classified and unclassified components of Armament Systems.
Responsibilities

Perform field/sustainment level initial, in-progress and final inspections on fire control system components, towed artillery fire control systems, self-propelled artillery fire control systems, tank fire control systems, small arms, other weapons and towed artillery.
Verify/Perform Borescope and Pullover Gauging
Perform field and sustainment level inspections of laser range finders, ballistic computers, laser observation devices, laser designators, thermal imaging systems, periscopes, telescopes, commander's weapon station/auxiliary sights, aiming circles, image transfer assemblies, quadrants, mount assemblies, fire control support equipment, and TMDE.
Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot defects.
Use technical manuals, bulletins and written directives in the performance of all inspections.
Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and/or gauges.
Order required repair parts using appropriate parts manuals.
Test equipment to insure operating efficiency.
Perform PQDRs, ECODs, etc and verify condition codes.
Perform battlefield damage assessment and repair (BDAR).
Classifies equipment for disposal IAW Army regulations and verify equipment condition codes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required
Must possess a high school diploma and equivalent.
Formal training (completion of MOS 91F or G course conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army Ordnance School) mandatory; or meet the civilian acquired skills criteria. DD214 required to verify Military Service/Training.
A valid US Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Kuwait Driver’s License are required. Note: US driver’s license must be valid for at least 18-24 months after hiring date.
Must be able to obtain Kuwait Heavy Drivers License.
Experience:
8 - 10 years of experience of Armament systems maintenance.
Skills:
Must possess the technical skills to identify different repair requirements as it pertains to Armament Equipment.
Must have expert knowledge of Technical and Commercial manuals for Servicing, Operational and Repair so that the correct procedures are used on the proper equipment.
Must be capable of giving and receiving instructions.
Must be an expert in Corrective Actions performed by the Maintenance Teams and only ensure that his equipment is FMC when cleared by the shops.
Must possess a working knowledge of GCSS-Army.
Must have the ability to troubleshoot, service and repair Armament Systems.
Must have full knowledge of TMDE and its proper usage Must be able to read, speak, and legibly write English.
Must be able to obtain and hold the proper clearances and background checks.
Must be proficient in how the repair parts system works and what to do when it doesn’t work correctly.
Must be proficient in all phases of the paperwork that pertains to the Services, maintenance, repairs, classification and etc.
Must have expert knowledge of the maintenance prints so as to be able to establish workload priority.
Must have expert knowledge of Load Test procedures and processes.
Must have expert knowledge of equipment operations as it is critical to working as a master driver for that shop.
Must have expert knowledge of The Army Maintenance Management System
Must be knowledgeable of Laser and other HAZMAT (i.e. Tritium, Thorium) control/safety requirements.
Must have expert knowledge of functions and processes such as preparing an ECOD, ACOD, ECOR or PQDR.
Must have a working knowledge of the Army Corrosion Prevention Program.
Ability to obtain a Logistics Information Warehouse (LIW) account.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally conducted in-doors but can also be done out-doors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work may require lifting, stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. May be exposed to oil, grease, and solvents. May frequently be exposed to the possibility of minor cuts and bruises. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.
