Vectrus Power Generation Technical Monitor in Kuwait

Overview

This position is physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP

Under supervision of the Facility Operations & Maintenance, Trades Shop, performs maintenance inspections, services, repairs, and overhauls of generator sets, steam cleaners, small engine driven equipment, and other Special Purpose Equipment. Ensures work is complete and conforms to standards and requirements IAW Technical Manuals, Army Regulations, established processes, and local SOPs.

This position requires hands on and supervisory skills, along with communication and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Performs maintenance inspections, services, repairs, and overhauls of generator sets, small engine driven equipment, and other Special Purpose Equipment.

  • Ensures work is complete and conforms to standards and requirements IAW Technical Manuals, Army Regulations, established processes, and local SOPs.

  • Provides input to develop and implement continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance operations

  • Ensures all direct labor and subcontractor personnel comply with Environmental Safety and Health requirements.

  • Adhere to company safety standards and promote safety culture among employees and subcontractors

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certifications: Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred (Must provide a copy of the Diploma)

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a host nation Driver’s License is required.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience.

  • Skills:

  • Deep understanding of a variety of diesel generator engine models

  • Understanding of power generation, engine maintenance and minor overhauls

  • Understanding of manufacturers technical publications and wiring diagrams, technique of operating and maintaining internal combustion engines and use of multipurpose test equipment

  • Principles of operating 2000kVA and smaller diesel engines to include Caterpillar, Cummins, Mitsubishi and FG Wilson

  • Knowledge of electrical codes, utility standards and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations and guidelines of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI and the NEC

  • Possess English oral and written communications skills

  • Collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork

  • Exercise discretion and good sound judgment

  • Basic computer skills

  • MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

  • Personal computer and associated software.

  • Tools of the trade, vehicle, special equipment and work materials

  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is conducted both indoors and out, with the potential for exposure to extreme climatic conditions including dust storms, and high temperatures – up to 125 degrees (F). Dependent on assigned work location, driving for extensive periods of time may be required (1.5 hrs). The potential for exposure to chemical or biological agents also exists and employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Normal work week is 48 hours; however, employees must be able to work overtime or shift work as required.

  • PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Physical requirements include lifting, climbing, extended sitting or standing, or other physical efforts that are normally required. In addition, visual acuity, hearing and speaking requirements would be considered.
