Vectrus Electrical Supervisor in Iraq

Overview

This position is physically located in Iraq in support of LOGCAP

Under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager or designee, the Electrical Supervisor position requires thorough knowledge of electrical standards to include maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and related Facilities Maintenance electrical projects. Assist in designing and developing electrical systems to the required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability and quality. Ensures compliance with requisite contractual, US Government, DoD, U.S. Army, local and safety, regulations, codes, policies, guidelines and instructions. Monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, Vectrus Safety Procedures and local standards.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

  • Comply with all Environmental Health Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.

  • Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.

  • Perform work required for the repair, maintenance, installation and modernization of electrical systems for site building s equipment. Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using test equipment.

  • Repair malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses, and replacing defective wiring, cleaning, repairing, or replacing motors. Test electrical equipment such as motors, heaters and controls for safety and efficiency, using standard test equipment and by observing functions. Install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment. Inspect circuits for specified shielding and grounding.

  • Report any malfunctions or lack of compliance with Statement of Work (SOW) to the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

  • Perform inspections and prepares written reports. Maintain effective, timely, and respectful communication and interaction with other employees and manager and support other organizations.

  • Perform other administrative tasks when directed, including material ordering, inventory, work scheduling and report preparation.

  • Responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment and spare parts for the electrical operation.

  • Take initiative to analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety and electrical codes.

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License, is required.

  • A high school diploma or GED. Electrician vocational diploma or successfully completed an apprentice program with a Journeyman license or equivalent experience.

  • Current Master Electrician license (must hold prior to hire date or able to obtain a Master Electrician license within 180 days employment).

  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:

  • Two (2) years’ experience as a Master Electrician, ten (10) years’ experience as a Journeyman Electrician or meet any state licensing board requirements for a Master Electrician license.

  • Five (5) years electrical experience in operations and maintenance services.

  • Three (3) years’ experience in an Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) environment. Experience working with SOW, electrical diagrams, and blueprints.

  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of applicable US Codes and acceptable trade practices.

  • Previous electrical experience in an OCONUS environment with a multinational workforce is desirable.

  • Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of the electrical trade, related safety precautions and considerable skill required for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment. Must have good organizational and communication skills with

  • the ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. Cross cultural

  • sensitivity with an international perspective. Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Skills:

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Knowledgeable of how to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language with proficiency.

  • Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork.

  • Must exercise discretion and good sound judgment.

  • Must have high level of proficiency in the use of MS Office and/or other related applications.

  • Supervisory/Budget Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all electricians at assigned site

  • Developing and updating SOP, Work Instructions, as needed for the department

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).

  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
