As our lead Civil & Structural Engineer you will support the Gas & Hydrogen Team with technical governance, client service development and mentoring of others.

You will be expected to interface with a wide range of disciplines within the Gas Team, and work with clients such as gas network operators, design consultancies and construction contractors. We will be looking for you to demonstrate your ability to work to British Standards (Eurocodes), UK Gas Industry Specifications and Regulations relating to civil engineering and construction aspects of the onshore gas industry and will be expected to hold the role of or working towards Competent Design Authority (CDA) after you have demonstrated your competence.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Interfacing with clients and developing new business opportunities.

  • Preparation of bid documentation to ensure bids are delivered within agreed timescales and to clients’ expectations.

  • Ensuring that site visits, project reports/drawings and other forms of documentation are delivered to the high standards expected by our client.

  • Assist and develop other engineers; mentor and educate on high standards of work, technical knowledge, delivery of projects/activities and customer interface.

  • Understand the GL5/G17/G35 Approval & Appraisal process. This requires detailed design experience of using IGEM and Gas Network codes.

Key Outputs:

  • Delivery of high quality work for clients and obtain feedback from client to reflect high standards.

  • Clear technical abilities and knowledge which is shared with the team and reports (through educational and mentoring activity).

  • Plan of activities/work for key clients – annual (and reviewed monthly).

  • Clear recommendations on project management improvement, delivery of consultancy etc with clients.

  • Ad-hoc presentations and reports (and project delivery) as required.

Technical / Professional Expertise and Qualifications Required:

  • Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering or similar discipline.

  • Chartered Engineering status or working towards.

  • Experience of technical lead/leadership role with direct involvement in the design process.

  • Experience and ability of working with British Standards and Highway Standards relating to civil engineering and construction aspects of the UK onshore gas industry (In particular Eurocode 2, Eurocode 3, DMRB and HAUC).

  • Experience and ability of working with the UK Gas Industry Civil Engineering (CE) suite of specifications for the ‘Design, Construction and Testing of Civil and Structural Works’ would be an advantage.

  • Experience and ability of working with Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers Technical Standards IGEM/TD/1, IGE/TD/3, IGE/TD/13, IGEM/SR/18 and IGEM/GL/5 would be an advantage.

  • Ability to travel as project commitments dictate.
