Ford Motor Company Body Interior Complete Seat Engineer in China

As a Complete Seat Engineer, your role will focus on the design, development, and optimization of the complete seat and components, including foam, plastics, Head restraint, Armrest, heat/vent, lumbar etc,. You also need lead the cooperation with seat trim cover, seat frame and seat comfort internal team, and also with cross-functional teams to ensure the creation of safe, durable, and efficient seating that meet industry standards and customer requirements.​

Complete Seat Design and Development:​

  • Design and develop the complete seat products, including seat plastics, seat foam, headrests & AR and also other function features(heat, vent, lumbar, calf rest, cushion extension, massage etc,.).​

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.​

  • Collaborate with Studio for seat surface developments, surface feasibility check.

  • ​Collaborate with Quality team for seats warranty issues solving and solutions, conduct design verifications and PTR trail, WERS release.

  • Develop and manage DFMEA with Quality & Core Engineer & suppliers.

  • Develop and manage component/system DVP&R with Core Engineering & suppliers.

  • Develop plans to meet quality objectives and validate robustness and durability of the designs.

  • Ensure design and all Engineering specifications are understood by supplier

  • Ensure all Ford engineering and quality requirements are met thru design and verification.

  • Transfer and convert CAD data from/to suppliers as required.

  • Oversee prototype build and testing, review results and prepare report.

  • Oversee component/system level design verification and production validation.

  • Interface with Ford NA, Australia, Europe and China team for product launch.

  • Perform package and stack-up studies at both component and subsystem levels.

  • Participate in root cause analysis and problem resolution as issues occur.

  • Support all APQP activities including PPAP.

Collaboration and Project Management:​

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program, studio, DI, Quality, VE and suppliers, to ensure seamless integration of complete seats developments.​

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery of projects.​

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to address technical queries and ensure project success.​

Critical Success Factors

  • Extensive experience with Ford requirements/specifications, problem solving.

  • Extensive experience in Quality/Reliability such as FMEA, Design Verification and Global 8D.

  • In-depth knowledge in CAD, CAE and testing.

  • In-depth knowledge in production process.

  • Knowledge of APQP process.

  • OEM supplier experience preferred.

  • Good skills in project management.

  • Good communication skills in Chinese and English.

  • Flexible working hours to accommodate meetings with North America, Australia and Europe.

  • Familiar with MS Office applications

  • Team player, dependable and honest.

Experience and Background Skills Desired :

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Automotive Engineering.

  • Minimum of 4 years/3 programs design and development experience in design/engineering.
