Ford Motor Company Body Exterior Mechanism Engineer in China

The D&R is responsible for the entire component development process from program start through production launch which includes sourcing, design, development, testing and manufacturing. Working with foundation engineering, the D&R will establish system and component functional targets/specifications. Interface with studio will be required to deliver feasible designs, test/validate exterior systems and components, analyze and resolve engineering issues. D&R engineer will work closely with suppliers to ensure delivery of optimized designs for cost, weight, package and overall product function. Manage and control engineering documents and release designs for global manufacturing.

responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

•Coordinating the design and development of Exterior Mechanism components (Window Regulator, Door Glass, Sealing System, HLM)

•Planning for structure of vehicle body packaging, manufacturing, craftsmanship, and style feasibility

•Create and modify design of Exterior Mechanism components to meet all engineering requirements, up through and including scheduling and releasing drawings

•Follow responsible parts through validation and launch including problem solving of technical issues

•Proactively improve design cost, quality, function, and weight for responsible models in production

•Execute design in CAD by instruction to CAD modeler or supplier engineer

•Lead and participate in cross functional decision making teams

•Participate in evaluation and manufacturing activities at the event location

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Vehicle Engineering (or related engineering major)

  • 3-5 years of related experience

  • General understanding and application of standard engineering theory and principles

  • Automotive components experience

  • English communication (spoken/written)

  • Technical presentation skills.
