Position Description

The Technical Business Analyst will be responsible for translating business needs into technical requirements, working with cross-functional teams to develop and implement technology solutions that improve business processes and drive organizational efficiency.

As a Technical Business Analyst, you will:

  • Analyze and interpret user requirements, user stories, use cases, and system architecture documents.

  • Quickly understands the enterprise Grants management system's business issues and data challenges.

  • Analyze and map current business processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

  • Review and edit business requirements, specifications, processes, and recommendations related to the proposed solution.

  • Participate in design and testing activities, review code, and participate in system implementations.

  • Analyze and map current business processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

  • Take initiative to suggest new standards, implement new strategies, and undertake special projects.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance overall business efficiency.

  • Define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret developmental tests for new and modified products or product components.

  • Participate in design and testing activities, review code, and participate in system implementations.

  • Prepare project documentation, including meeting minutes, business process documents, quick reference sheets, and other process workflow diagrams as required.

  • Investigate and resolve operational problems with other engineering and technical personnel.

  • Identify and report bugs found through testing and document them. Experience using issue-tracking tools like Jira.

  • Ensure that all test items follow established change management processes and are well-tested and tracked using the provided test management software.

  • Solve challenging business and technical, analytical problems, and detail-oriented.

  • Develop efficient and effective quantitative methods and guidelines to improve quality processes and practices across multiple projects continuously.

  • Participate in program Agile software development initiatives (standup, planning, Increment planning) to support innovation and enhancement of custom applications through iteration/functionality testing.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong focus on technical projects.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, debugging, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.

  • Work closely with development teams to ensure a quick turnaround on fixes.

  • Experience working in an Agile development process: Scrum, Kanban.

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication skills.

  • Self-starter and highly motivated where assignments are often self-initiated.

  • Experience using MS Office tools: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

This position requires the candidate to work out of the Tysons, VA office once a week.
