Atlantic Diving Supply, Inc. Chief Human Resources Officer in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is responsible for developing and executing human resources strategy in support of ADS' strategic plan and direction. This person will specifically lead in the areas of talent management, employee recruitment and retainment, learning and development, HR compliance and analytics, change management, organizational and performance management. The CHRO provides strategic leadership by driving a culture that is aligned with ADS vision and mission.

The position of CHRO represents an exciting opportunity to be a key member of the senior leadership team and impact the human capital, as well as the future, of ADS. The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced executive with a strong working knowledge of human resources principles and programs and an effective leader with solid interpersonal and communication skills. The CHRO will be engaged, confident, and innovative, and possess high energy and integrity. In addition, they will possess strategic- thinking abilities and have an exceptional capacity to build collaborative relationships with staff and faculty at all levels. Given a variety of current initiatives currently underway, the CHRO will serve as one of several transformational change agents within the ADS leadership team.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop an HR agenda and strategies to support the strategic mission, pillars, and values of ADS
  • Develop and deploy strategic organizational development interventions across ADS.
  • Direct organization assessment and design, change management, talent management and leadership team development.
  • Align HR priorities with Executive Leadership strategic priorities.
  • Drive the succession strategy and internal talent pool.
  • Support the ability of staff members to operate more efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide counsel and guidance to the senior leaders to create an inclusive and collaborative culture. Build an HR strategy to ensure a diverse, inclusive and high- performing workforce.
  • Drive innovative talent acquisition and management strategy and provide data-driven competitive solutions. Promote effective plans and programs aimed at sourcing, evaluating, recruiting, assimilating and developing strong talent.
  • Drive commitment to a culture of change and adaptability; of less bureaucratic processes; of lower hierarchical barriers to intra-office collaboration; and a freedom to recommend innovation.
  • Design and deliver measures of accountability to assess and ensure service excellence; measure the achievement of goals and expectations; assess the effectiveness of programs and services and promote evidence-based decision making.
  • Integrate the ADS Values more broadly into all HR activities.

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in related field required. At least ten years of progressively responsible human resources management experience.

Additional Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred
  • Experience working in higher education, working with both faculty and staff is highly desirable.
  • Experience operating on a senior leadership team, creating quick credibility and adding value to strategy beyond human resources.
  • Successful record of leading people and teams.
  • Highly skilled in all aspects of communication (written, interpersonal, and presentation), relationship building, and ability to manage conflict and problem-solve to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated competence in building and leading an effective and cohesive team.
  • Experience working within a government sales environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment and experience with process improvement.
