Health First Cardiac Device Specialist - Device Clinic in Viera, Florida

*POSITION SUMMARY: *

To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by providing direct care to patients with Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs), in the Cardiac Device Clinic. The Cardiac Device Specialist asses the technical function of the patient’s CIED, perform testing and programming of the CIED, analyzes and interprets device and patient diagnostics and performs accurate clinical documentation. The Cardiac Device Specialist functions autonomously within departmental standards of care and within the lawful scope of practice.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Quality/No Harm:

Demonstrates autonomous direct cardiac rhythm management patient care for patients with CIEDs by integrating a knowledge base from physiology, pathophysiology and the basics of electronics to perform competent device interrogations, diagnostic review, and overall analysis of device function with both in-person evaluations and remote monitoring. * Performs post-operative CIED patient assessment and teaching regarding incision care as well as cardiac device function, ICD shock plans, and remote CIED monitoring. * Programs device parameters autonomously in order to optimize functionality and to promote appropriate pacing, rate modulation, safety, battery longevity, and optimally support overall electrophysiological needs of the patient. * Autonomously adjust settings and parameters on CIEDs within best practice guidelines and departmental standards relying on knowledge of electrophysiology knowledge. * Corrects issues upon recognition of abnormal functions of pacemakers, defibrillators, ILRs and CRT devices through in-person evaluation and remote monitoring. *Stewardship: * * Communicates with Cardiac Electrophysiologists and other providers regarding CIED function, diagnostic data, and overall patient status through accurate, professional and standardized documentation.

Customer Experience:

  • Applies scheduling protocols for remote monitoring and in-person CIED evaluations.
  • Supports projects related to CIED tracking, advisory and recall management.
  • Ensures accurate billing codes and procedural information is documented in the Her for each patient encounter.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: * *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Education: Associates Degree * Work Experience: Three (3) or more years of experience in cardiology environment. * Certification: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association * Successful completion of a Device Technician training course within 12 months of employment. * Specific Knowledge/Skills: Prior demonstration of strong customer service mindset and patient advocacy. * Specific Knowledge/Skills: Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Education: Bachelor’s Degree * Work Experience: Two (2) or more years of recent cardiac device management * Certification: Certification as Cardiac Device Technician or IBHRE CCDS (International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners Certified Cardiac Device Specialist) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * Medium Work Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
