Navy Federal Credit Union Senior Business Intelligence - Corporate Costing Systems in Vienna, Virginia

Overview

To plan and develop actionable strategic costing business intelligence in consultation with management and business units to enable decision making. Establish and recommend industry best practices and standards to create optimum solutions that improve business performance. Work independently within assigned areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the design and build of business intelligence solutions including requirements gathering, design, production implementation and maintenance for the Corporate Activity-Based Costing (ABC) system

  • Develop and recommend development of dashboards, customized reports and scorecards based on business requirements

  • Load data marts via common schemas (e.g. Star/Snowflake) using database normalization. Denormalize and flatten structures for optimized reporting.

  • Execute ad hoc analytic requests for online transactional processing (OLTP) and online analytical processing (OLAP) systems in an accurate and efficient manner.

  • Review and optimize medium to complex SQL queries, review optimization work on simple complexity SQL queries, and investigate database performance issues

  • Design and build medium to complex algorithms and stored procedures, review work completed on simple complexity algorithms and stored procedures supporting ABC data enrichment

  • Conduct development and production support activities across multiple environments with a keen understanding of costing systems configuration and key ABC concepts

  • Collaborate with business areas to understand business processes and organizational constructs in order to develop technical solutions; design, test, and implement new systems, enhancements and modifications

  • Identify, diagnose, and correct problems that occur within databases and application interfaces to improve efficiency and ensure data integrity

  • Guide the implementation of new and enhanced process

  • Review data dictionary, run sheets

  • Support creating business insights and compelling narratives using data and leveraging new product features as applicable

  • Conduct analytical studies to provide results/recommendations to senior management for department and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives

  • Develop, construct, test, and maintain data architectures to meet business needs using programming language and tools

  • Identify areas of improvement; recommend solutions; implement enhancements/changes to improve operations, standards, and results

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of disciplined approach towards Data Visualization and Reporting.

  • Significant experience with SQL databases and data architecture

  • Significant experience with at least one major BI/Reporting Application

  • Familiarity with databases, OLAP, and OLTP concepts

  • Significant experience working and participating in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects

  • Significant experience in multidimensional data modeling; star schemas, snowflakes, denormalized models, managing slow-changing dimensions/attributes

  • Experience in setting up complex ETL processes, involving relational and non-relational data

  • Advanced skill communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Expert database and presentation software skills

  • Advanced knowledge of data structures and interaction between applications and data

  • Significant experience in leading, guiding and mentoring others

  • Familiarity with SQL Server, SSIS, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management, Oracle Profitability and Cost Management, Oracle Enterprise Data

  • Management, Oracle Essbase, Hadoop, Informatica

  • Exposure to complete lifecycle of at least one data warehouse/Business Intelligence program at Enterprise scale

  • Experience leading, guiding, and mentoring less experienced staff

  • Effective skill at communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills

  • Expert database and presentation software skills

  • Advanced research, problem solving, and data analysis skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Activity Based Costing or Cost Accounting Software

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting, cost accounting, or finance

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience
