Actalent Fpga Engineer in Vienna, Virginia

Description:

We are seeking an FPGA Engineer to join our team in a hybrid role in Vienna, VA. The technology they will be creating goes into Military software defined radios that use Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) technology. DSA technology enables radio devices to dramatically improve spectrum utilization, communications reliability and network deployment time. These radios are the most advanced Spectrum radios in the world.

Example: When a natural disaster hits these radios search the airwaves to find waves that are not being used to the first responders have a way to communicate

Day to Day responsibilities including:

  • Working directly with the customer Defining, Designing, and Redesigning the technology for the Radios

  • Full life cycle prototype design, development, and testing of FPGAs, Embedded SW, C++, and PCB boards

  • Setting and planning the release schedule

Test the JD:

They want someone who has experience ideally in a R&D prototyping environment where they can design and develop FPGAs

Best vs Average:

The best candidate will come from a small company where they are used to wearing multiple hats within the Development Life Cycle. Ask candidates to give an example of when they have to program FPGAs and C++ code from the requirements phase all the way through design, development, and testing.

The best candidates will also come from a heavy embedded system or RF/wireless radio, especially with WNW Radios.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineer, or Computer Engineering

  • 5+ years experience in architecting and developing complex embedded systems using FPGAs and in Linux

  • Experience with Xilinx Zynq devices or UltraScale MPSoC and an understanding of the design flow and toolchain use

  • MUST be eligible for a US Secret Clearance

Preferred Experience:

  • Embedded C++ coding experience

  • Experience with SDR platforms such as ADRV9361-Z7035 or Xilinx RFSoC

  • Experience with Wideband Network Waveform Radios (NWN Radios)

  • Experience with wireless networking and radio communications systems

  • Experience in design and development of Software Defined Radios would be a plus

  • Experience working with following technologies: zibgee, 802.15.4, 802.11, 802.16, WiMax, RF, Radio Frequency, wi-fi, wlan, wireless, bluetooth, "z wave", ieee 802
