Group W C++ Model Developer (Mid-Level) in Vienna, Virginia

Position:Mid-Level C++ Model Developer

Location:Vienna, VA

Overview:Group W, Inc. (an employee-owned company) is seeking an experienced Mid-Level C++ Model Developer. Elected candidate will joina highly respected software engineering team developing modeling and simulation applications for the Department of Defense. The applications employ a wide variety of technologies and disciplines, including computer science, discrete event simulation, operations research, relational database, combinatorial optimization, graph theory, graphical user interface and data visualization. The software engineering process includes formal software configuration management, coding standards and peer reviews.

Requirements:

  • Four-year STEM degree (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, etc.)
  • 3+ years' progressive programming experience
  • Experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of software
  • U.S. Citizenship

Preferred:

  • Solid computer programming skills in C++
  • Passion for developing software
  • Experience developing simulation software to solve complex military problems
  • Experience with modifying code to be STIG and static code analyzer compliant
  • Experience with the Synthetic Theater Operations Research Model (STORM)
  • 3+ years' progressive programming experience in C++
  • Knowledge of military operations
  • Experience with linear programming, mixed integer programming, database creation, OS/tool chain development, and/or UX/UI development
  • Experience with the following software (or software that provides the same functionality): gcc, MySQL, GTK+, XML, bison, Microsoft Office API, OpenMap, git tool, gdb
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the minimum of a Secret security clearance

Responsibilities:

  • Develop software using open-source tools on Linux operating systems
  • Consult and coordinate with team members on system design and functionality
  • Analyze problem reports from users and resolve software defects
