DAI is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to join our busy Business Development Team within the EU Business Unit. This will be a full-time permanent role based either in Ankara (Turkiye), Belgrade (Serbia), Sofia (Bulgaria), Vienna (Austria), Brussels (Belgium), Barcelona (Spain) or Apsley (United Kingdom). The Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for winning EU-funded projects in English and French-speaking countries.

Key tasks, duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage new business opportunities in English and French-speaking countries in relevant sectors and client markets, including the tracking of key pipeline projects (identifying potential partners as well as relevant research and networking).

  • Research new market opportunities in English and French-speaking countries and obtain market intelligence.

  • Manage the preparation of Expressions of Interest, technical proposals and financial proposals and meet planning, budgeting and reporting targets.

  • Coordinate bid teams - assistants, drafters, researchers, recruiters, and graphic designers.

  • Ensure all administrative documents meet compliance obligations and client requirements.

  • Maintain and develop a network of expert and partner firms.

  • Support or lead recruitment efforts for proposals.

  • Write sections of technical and financial proposals as required.

  • Travel for the scoping and reconnaissance of current and expected bidding opportunities.

  • Facilitate information sharing within the Business Development department and with other DAI units, departments, and offices.

  • Manage the proposal review process, preparation of interviews, contract management and handover for all submitted tenders.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent working experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in preparing and implementing EU and other donor-funded projects.

  • Demonstrable understanding of and interest in international development and working in an international/multi-cultural environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of PRAG roles and procedures.

  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal – in English and French.

  • Demonstrable ability to write technical text in English and French.

  • Strong organisational skills.

  • Proactive, assertive and action-oriented with strong intellectual agility and ability.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Ability to travel internationally if required.

Desirable:

  • Experience backstopping donor-funded projects.

  • Experience of quality management systems.
