Position Description

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for safe troubleshooting, installation, repair and operation of mechanical, electrical and instrument equipment.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Understands accepted troubleshooting guidelines for PLC, control valves and all PLC logic.

  • Possess overall knowledge of the installation, operation, repair, of assigned equipment.

  • Maintains sufficient inventory of electrical supplies and repair parts to meet most emergency situations.

  • Takes care of company vehicle, keeping it clean and organized.

  • Reports any unsafe practices or actions to supervisor.

  • Continues to look for better and more efficient ways of doing job.

  • Keeps lines of communication open to supervisor and other company employees while meeting the needs of all customers.

  • Makes callouts on equipment.

  • Works with project managers, engineering and contractors on all new construction projects.

  • Maintain all controls, monitor alarms and sensor tests.

  • Troubleshooting and scheduling electrical maintenance for the assigned location.

  • Solid understanding of electrical motor control.

  • Knowledge of electrical prints and capable of making appropriate red-line changes to them.

  • Assist PLC programming personnel.

  • Good understanding of PLC cause and effect.

  • Supervise electrical contractors.

  • Job level will be commensurate with experience and knowledge

    Position Requirements

Education:

  • High School degree of equivalent

    Experience/specific knowledge:

  • General knowledge of compressor stations, gathering system, and processing plant operations.

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

  • Valid operating license with acceptable driving record under company insurers.

    Competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Customer orientation.

  • Ability to effectively present information in a one–on-one and small group situation to other employees of the company and outside contractors.

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out day-to-day operation issues.

  • Be able to make quick and reasonable decisions in sometimes-adverse conditions.

Physical demands:

  • Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment/tools.

  • Climbs and works at various heights. May work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position.

  • Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.

  • Regularly bends, stoops, moves from ground level to higher levels, raises/lifts from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transports a load up to 75 lbs., and applies up to 150 foot pounds of torque.

  • Regularly gets into and out of vehicles and rides over rough roads.

  • Candidates may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements,

  • Subject to overtime and call-outs

Working conditions:

  • Works mostly outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment.

  • Required to climb about equipment and work in confined areas (i.e. tanks, between compressors, vessels).

  • May be subject to work in hazardous conditions including hydrocarbon vapor, adverse weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.

  • Wears safety equipment as required.

Supervisory responsibility: None

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Journeyman electrician

  • Maximo or other Enterprise Asset Management application experience.
