Guthrie Patient Access/Financial Specialist - Central Scheduling - Full Time in Vestal, New York

Position Summary:

Communicates effectively with the public, patients, personnel, physicians and other staff.

Experience:

Some business experience preferred. Comprehends written instructions and applies effectively. Understands and applies knowledge or rudimentary medical terminology. Handles many duties fast, efficiently, and makes judgements and reasonable decisions without supervision. Follows admission and reception policies and procedures. Clerical, computer, reception, medical terminology desirable. Computes mathematically without errors. Strong data entry skills a must. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately is a must. Must have the ability to work as a team member.

Essential Functions:

Registers patients on the computer by taking demographics and insurance information and send/assist patient to required department. Checks HIQA on all possible SNF admissions. Verifies all insurances on SNF admissions, checks promise on all admissions. Meets with every admission responsible party to get admission agreement signed. Scans all important papers onto the SNF account. Re‐Addresses all mail as necessary. Communicates effectively with RNAC Enters billing charges for all WCV/STV patients Obtains authorization for part B therapies. Work with Area Agency on Aging on Medical Assistance applications for community transfer. Completes new Medical Assistance applications, completes Medical Assistance renewal applications and sends MA 103 to assistance office for residents on admission and discharge. Issues NOMNC letters when Medicare insurance services are ending. Issues letters of non‐coverage for part B therapy when the therapy department discharges a resident. Handles all Medicare insurance appeals to Livanta. Updates the SNF contracted pharmacy daily with admissions, discharges, payor status and hospice admissions. Contact the responsible party for bed hold status if residents are admitted to hospital; appropriate paperwork signed.

Other Duties:

Performs other duties as assigned. Collect patient payments and balance cash drawer. Contact on call personnel as needed. Call code blue, fire alarm and disaster codes. Responsible for taking patient belongings. Handles and records all petty cash as warranted.

The pay for this position ranges from $16.00-$22.37 per hour.
