Salary Range $101,404 -$126,755

JOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

Leads engineering activities for electric transmission and system protection projects. Plans, controls and manages project activities to effectively complete engineering and design for construction projects. Provides liaison with other departments, divisions, vendors or consultants and coordinates with government agencies, customers, other utilities or groups. Applies and interprets company, local, state, and national codes and standards and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Conducts feasibility studies, completes estimates and develops Engineering criteria.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

Performs engineering analysis of the electric transmission system and recommends actions to develop design options or recommendations for protective relay system to minimize customer outages due to equipment failure or system malfunction. Engineer detailed designs. Perform engineering calculations.(25%,P) Originates electric system and component reliability studies, outage contingency plans and capital budget proposals including a complete business case. Determines corrective action for operating deficiencies. (10%,S) Recommends system improvements, develops economic project proposals for improvements and provides project management for major transmission construction projects.(25%,P) Develops and validates information needed for engineering analyses and applies engineering judgment to solve complex technical problems. Directs engineering contractors and consultants.(15%,P) Demonstrates new technology and implements it to enhance power system performance. Provides power system commissioning support and supervision when required.(10%,S) Provides construction management, including coordinating field construction transmission lines. Develops technical specifications, standards, contracts and purchase orders. Administers contract terms and conditions, tracks budgets and schedules, supervises field construction to ensure compliance. Approves changes within contract scope and negotiates contract settlement.(15%,P)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in electric transmission systems planning, operations, and/or protection.
  • Knowledge of running and analyzing electric power load flows.
  • Knowledge of FERC and state regulations.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Able to perform circuit analysis including voltage drop capacitor and regular siting.
  • Able to perform fault duty/motor start status.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
