SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Security Equipment Supervisor, the Security Equipment Maintainer is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electronic fareboxes on and removed from buses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair communications and electronic equipment used on buses, including but not limited to fareboxes.

  • Perform basic preventive and remedial maintenance on fareboxes.

  • Prepare repair records for maintenance activities performed on electronic fareboxes and other revenue equipment.

  • Recommend modifications in electronic fare collection equipment and service methods to improve performance and reliability.

  • Diagnose circuit board issues on electronic communication and electronic fare collection equipment, including but not limited to coin modules, power supplies, processor boards, keyboards and other related electromechanical modules.

  • On occasion assist with vaults for revenue pick-up

    DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment and safety procedures utilized in the installation and maintenance of analog and digital electronic equipment and electrical systems found in buses, heavy equipment and other vehicles.

  • Knowledge of computerized diagnostic equipment including hand held and Microsoft Office based software.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Electronics Technology, Electronics Communications, Radio Communications or a closely related field.

  • Two years' experience performing installation, repair, maintenance and testing of electronic communications equipment, fareboxes, two-way radios or analog and digital equipment; or

  • A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.
