Responsibility:

The position requires experience in track evaluation, track construction, track maintenance activities and track scoping. Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the MW-1 Track Standards Manual as well as knowledge of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Line and Car Equipment Clearances. Must have a working knowledge of all train lines and yards owned and operated by NYCT, be familiar with track devices and have proficient knowledge of Track Geometry (including how to read and interpret the Track Geometry Car printouts). Duties will include detailed walking inspection of tracks and switches at all locations of the NYCT system, including subway and elevated structures. Applicant must be able to perform inspections of Track Projects, performed by In-House Personnel and Contractors, for compliance with the MW-1 Manual Standards and able to survey and evaluate Track Components for its remaining useful life. Applicant will also perform investigation of Citizen's Complaints and special track inspections and be required to prepare detailed reports of findings. Must know how to read a ruler and track gauge. Applicant will be required to work day and night tours in order to meet projects’ needs. Must be computer knowledgeable and proficient in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel and Word). Must have strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in order to advise, inspect and to interface with Capital Program Management Personnel, Track Construction and Maintenance Supervision and other Departments of MOW.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with NYCT’s MW-1 Standards and track design

  • Working knowledge of NYCT’s Subway System

  • Ability to review Track Geometry Data

  • Must be organized and detail-oriented

  • Should have experience with Microsoft Office software - Word, Excel, Access, etc.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
