Banfield Pet Hospital Sr. Manager, Operations Process Improvement & Planning in Vancouver, Washington

Summary and Qualifications:

Organize timelines of new and existing processes or projects and develop improvements that enable hospitals and field performance.

Collaborate with Field Operations and CTS teams to ensure consistency of implementation plans to field by providing a dependable project and initiative management.

This role will be remote to start and will require relocation to the Portland, OR / Vancouver, WA area by 2022.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.

  • Collaborate with CTS and Hospital Operations to develop implementation plans, communicating to stakeholders and gaining alignment for execution. This includes project planning and implementation.

  • Build rapport with key stakeholders (CTS and Field).

  • Partner with CTS stakeholders to ensure that available tools, such as communication & training, support existing policies and if needed, creating new policies.

  • Maintain operational policies and procedures, updating as needed.

  • Partner with Hospital Operations and Finance for test & learn.

  • Identify best practices within industry and comparable models for potential process improvement or innovation opportunities.

  • Evaluate performance from project execution in field by individual project teams. Provide results to stakeholders when needed.

  • Manage workflow for projects and initiatives that would impact hospital operations.

  • Ensure Sr. Director of Hospital Operations is apprised of developing trends, project status and strategic market opportunities.

  • Maintain, and update policies and procedures owned by Hospital Operations.

  • Other job duties as assigned.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.

  • Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.

  • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.

  • Environment where pets are present.

Experience, Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a similar field is required, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Master of Business Administration or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine is preferred.

  • Five years of professional experience with progressively increasing responsibilities in Medicine, Business, Sales, Operations, Management and/or Multi Unit Operations are required.

  • The ability to influence large scale organizational process change, strategic initiatives and/or change management efforts is required.

  • Experience with veterinary medicine to ensure medical considerations are noted in policies and procedures is preferred.

  • Banfield field leadership experience is preferred.
